Analyzing the Story of a Filipino COVID-19 Survivor through Positioning Analysis

COVID-19 has brought so many changes in the world. It is a test of faith and hope to everyone. Many scholars have used different lenses fields research this topic. In language studies, zoomed on topic corpus-based linguistics. discourse analysis, few studies dealt with this, especially narrative analysis. Using frameworks Bamberg (1997) Barkhuizen (2009), three levels positioning analysis were unpacked by survivor’s life story. The first level answers how characters positioned themselves concerning events that happened. On other hand, second seeks answer audience. Lastly, third aims position narrators themselves. participant was student researcher who agreed share his story paper. main character almost lost due hospitalized for nearly two weeks. discovered linguistic elements present during interview, such as politeness, transitional devices, metaphors, particles, helped analyze unpack actual occurrences happened served turning point experience–from non-believer believer COVID-19. paper further explored became faith, love, participant.
